Schedules
Schedules are tailored to fit the university operations and exam calendar. They correspond to the U.S. team availability and can be altered to maximize fact time with nationals, students, and graduates. Opportunities are available to visit new universities and tour places of interest.
A common schedule has these elements:
- Friday: leave the hub city
- Saturday afternoon: arrive in Beijing. Tiananmen Square
- Sunday: attend Beijing International Christian Fellowship, fly or take a bus to the university, welcome dinner/team meeting, curriculum
Sample English Festival Week
Monday
- Team breakfast
- English department introductions
- 8-10:00 AM: in class teaching 1st class
- 10-12:00 PM: in class teaching 2nd class
- 12-1:00 PM: lunch on campus
- 2-4 PM: rest in rooms or play sports with students
- 4-6 PM: Friendship Corner, free talk with students
- 6-7 PM: dinner with selected students
- 7:30-9:30 PM: evening lectures
- 9-10:00 PM: hang out with students
- 10-10:30 PM: team meeting (prepare for travel day)
Tuesday
- Team breakfast
- Meet bus and student partners
- Travel to Great Wall, Nature Park or local scenic attraction
- Relation-building time on bus and while touring
- 4:00 PM: return to campus
- 5-6:00 PM: Friendship Corner
- 6-7:00 PM: dinner with selected students
- 7-9:00 PM: evening lectures
- 9-10:00 PM: hang out time
- 10-10:30 PM: team meeting, curriculum review
Wednesday
- Team breakfast
- English department introductions
- 8-10:00 AM: in class teaching 1st class
- 10-12:00 PM: in class teaching 2nd class
- 12-1:00 PM: lunch on campus
- 2-4 PM: rest in rooms
- 4-6 PM: basketball, dance, ping pong
- 6-7 PM: dinner with selected students
- 7:30-9:30 PM: evening lectures
- 9-10:00 PM: hang out with students
- 10-10:30 PM: team meeting (prepare for travel day)
Thursday
- Team breakfast
- Meet bus and student partners
- Travel to Shepherd’s Village and Bethel Foster Home or other scenic attraction
- Lunch at New Oriental City University Mall
- Return to campus
- 3:30-4:00 PM: freshen up
- 4:0-6 PM: Friendship Corner
- 6-7 PM: dinner with selected students
- 7-9:00 PM: evening lectures
- 9-10:00 PM: hang out time
- 10-10:30 PM: team meeting, curriculum review
Friday
- Team breakfast
- English department farewells
- 8-10:00 AM: in class teaching 1st class
- 10-12:00 PM: in class teaching 2nd class
- 12-1:00 PM: lunch on campus
- 2-4 PM: rest in rooms
- 4-6 PM: time with partners and students to bring closure
- 6-7 PM: dinner with selected students
- 7:30-9:30 PM: farewell party (skits, talent, dances, music, school dance)
- 9-10:00 PM: hang out with students
- 10-10:30 PM: team meeting (prepare for travel day)
Saturday
- Either return to Beijing by bus or spend the day with partners and other students
- Spend afternoon with students
- Visit Southern Palace or Temple of Heaven
- Shop Friendship Store, Peal Market, Oriental Plaza Mall, Luli Chan Art District
- Team dinner – Hard Rock Café
- Team debriefing
- Sleep, tour, visit with IXO former students
Sunday
- Pack and check out of hotel
- Attend Chinese cultural event
- Lunch
- Depart for airport and return to U.S.
